Artificial Intelligence, popularly known as AI has been the buzzword for well over a decade. Huge strides have been made in multiple sectors wherein AI has revolutionised the way we live and conduct our business. From robotic process automation to increased personalized customer experiences to AI-powered vehicles, household appliances, and workplace tools; suffice to say AI is here to say for the foreseeable future.
Introduction of AI Module in ATL Labs
Recently, Nasscom has come together with NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) based module for Indian students. This module will be implemented across 5,000 Atal Tinkering Labs where 2.5 million students will benefit from this initiative.
In this module, students will be taught the various concepts of AI through activities, videos and experiments to enable them to grasp the fundamentals of the concept.
Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO NITI Aayog, stressed that the AI module was critical as its core audience is young children. “This is path-breaking, it combines playing and academics and our job is to make things very interesting. We want to make artificial intelligence a great fun, so that children can enjoy it, they can evolve and learn and take India forward,” said Kant.

“This is the first-ever industry-government academia initiative on such a scale to keep the school students abreast of latest technologies,” added R. Ramanan, Mission Director - Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog.
AI Market: The Rise of Automation
As per a study, the global AI market will touch a cap of $15-15.5 trillion by 2030, out of which India’s share will be close to $1 trillion.
This opens up a plethora of opportunities for the coming generation of students. AI has firmly established itself as a crucial technology upon which the future will hinge and play an integral role in spreading prosperity for our children.
By introducing AI module in ATL labs across the country, the government is preparing a roadmap where we're equipped to handle the jobs of the future.
“The partnership is a crucial step in building citizens and a workforce that is aware of AI and can work with AI. In this curriculum, students will get benefit from technologies of some of the partner companies including Microsoft, Adobe, SAP Labs, Wipro and Nasscom among others,” quipped Debjani Ghosh, President of Nasscom.
