Love pets but parents won't allow one because "Who will take care of it?". Trust me, we all have been there.

So we came up with something, maybe, a pet dog robot for kids. *wink* *wink* Oh and no he won't mess up your house.

In this blog, we're going to unlock the secrets to blending technology and companionship as we guide you through the fascinating journey of crafting your own robotic canine companion. Together, we'll explore the step-by-step process, from selecting the right materials to programming your robot to exhibit behaviors that mimic those of a real pet dog.

So without further ado - let’s get right into it and see how to make it and how it works. 

We will be using Avishkaar’s MEX Poodle Kit to make this robot. 

There are going to be a lot of plastic parts, a motor, two LED modules, the MEXcore brain and some wires.

We will start by building its legs. Then move on to its head with LED modules and then build its stomach. Now where we’ll also attach the motor. (steps marked in the manual of the kit)

And finally, let’s connect it all together, attach the MEXcore brain on top, and connect all electronics to the brain using these wires.

So now the structure of our robot is ready, but before we proceed to testing it - let’s talk a little bit about its theory.

This bot uses a bar-linkage system. The purpose of such a system is to convert a looping rotational motion to a looping back and forth linear motion. The crank arm is connected to the source rotational motion. This crank arm drives a coupler arm. The coupler arm in turn transfers motion to a rocker arm which moves in a looping back and forth linear motion. 

Now enough theory - let’s connect the app to it and play with it!

Start by turning ON the MEXcore brain on Poodle. You’ll see the green light blinking. Now let’s turn On the bluetooth on the mobile app and open the Avishkaar app and make an account. You’ll need to register your kit before you can connect it to MEXcore so ensure you do that before trying to play with the bot.

Let’s go to the play section and connect to the brain.

And that’s it! Now you’ll be able to control the movement of the bot, change the color of its eyes and even play fun sounds from the app!
